Kit! – s/t CD 7/19:48
Kids playing pop-punk goes together almost as well and almost as often as a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. This time around we have a Florida outfit called Kit!...three dudes and a lady singer, they sound like an upbeat and less interesting version of Ashes, or something like that. Man, I really loved that Ashes CD back in 95 or so when it came out, and I would have probably liked this some too, but not so much now. But I bet the kids in their town go crazy for them, probably writing their name on their backpacks in white-out and wearing homemade Kit! Patches on the jean jacket they bought at Hot Topic. Jake

What do you know about the wide world of record trading? Any pitfalls to watch out for? Any goldmines out there fresh for the take?

Is there such a world as zine trading?

I'm a full endorsee of record trading. I've actually been doing quite a bit of that lately. The only thing I can add is that Euro kids are way more into trading and are really appreaciative when you do. Many U.S. labels, especially those of some prominence, mostly don't trade or see it as a nuisance. I hate to get all nostalgic, but 5-6 years ago diy punk was much different and the network of trading was pretty expansive. Also word of advice if you do overseas trading of cds...remove the cds from their jewel cases to save money. Anything over 4 lbs and you're looking to spend quite a bit on shipping. I must have spent around $200 in the last few months on international trades, but in the spirit of diy how can I refuse. Zine trading is huge, but I can't comment too much on that since I don't do zines.

Fucking awesome. Thanks so much for the info.

Do you know anyone that knows a lot about that whole zine trade? Does Michelle know about it/engage in it?

Also, whats new with the label? I read the news page on the site, but figured you'd have newer news than the site.

I'm really stoked AA is going on tour again. I talk to Ry about it at school every once in a while, and give him whatever encouragement I can.
